This may seem a little off topic but it's just something I wanted to get off of my brain so I can work on more important things.
Maybe...just maybe, first thing in the morning things like playing around on PubGmobile or even Fortnight are better for you than coffee?
Let's say first thing in the morning you wake up and you pull out your phone to play a round of PUBG mobile. Now those are you not familiar with PUBG mobile is the mobile version of a desktop video game called PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds. The object of the game is to be the last one standing.
Putting your brain in this scenario triggers activation of parts your brain responsible for fight or flight since the object is to last until the end.
Neuroscientist describe the fight or flight response as a quick mechanistic response of cognition, emotion, and the autonomic nervous system.
This autonomic, or automatic unconscience response awakens and couples multiple parts of your mental and physical anatomy. Something most people don't reach until their circadian rythms peaks until 10am or so.
I'll double down on this theory and refer to Handbook of Clinical Neurology. It states, "The mind and body are intrinsically and dynamically coupled. Perceptions, thoughts and feelings change, and respond to, the state of the body. The integration of cognitive and affective processes with the autonomic control of bodily arousal, focusing on reciprocal effects of autonomic responses on decision making, error detection, memory and emotions. Neuroimaging techniques are beginning to detail the neuronal substrates mediating these interactions between mental and physiological states, implicating cortical regions (specifically insular and cingulate cortices) alongside subcortical (amygdala) and brainstem (notably dorsal pons) in these mechanisms. The extent to which bodily states influence mental processes"
You can read more from the Handbook of Clinical Neurology here.
TL;DR, there is a body of interesting science that supports the theory that a before your feet hit the floor in the morning, whipping out your phone and playing a quick round of PUBG Mobile before your morning coffee/workout routine can accelerate your brain and emotional state to peak performance. Making you more productive and putting your mind into a peak emotional state for "winning" hours before your competition each day.
Being the last one standing is often the case in success.
